The posters offered on this site were originally produced as advertisement for movie theatres.
The majority of the posters offered here actually served that purpose, so they may show signs of wear.
Also, please keep in mind, that prior to 1990 posters were already folded at the printers or at the distributor, and shipped to the theatre folded.
Our grading system (see below) should give you a general idea of the condition. For a detailed condition report, please use the Contact form or send us an email to mail(at)filmposter.net.
Unless noted, all items are guaranteed to be from the original theatrical release of the movie in the specific country.
Re-releases are marked with an "R" before the date.
You may find the occasional art print or movie poster reproduction among our listings. These items are EXPLICITLY labeled as such.
Some posters offered on this site are linenbacked or paperbacked.
Linen and paper backing are techniques used to restore and archivally protect posters.
It also diminishes the appearance of the fold lines evident in many posters.
The poster is affixed to archival paper which is then put on linen (actually, cotton canvas is more commonly used these days), sometimes stiff paper stock is used instead of canvas. The process is archivally sound and reversible.
Many collectors as well as museums and major auction houses use the technique. With linen-backing a poster displays well and they look terrific.
We offer linenbacking or paperbacking as a customer service, or we can recommend a restorer. Please inquire for details.
We also offer archival framing, please inquire for details.
The following grading system is used on this site:
MINT (M)

Posters and lobby cards may have single pinholes in corners.
VERY FINE or FINE (VF/F)
A used poster in overall excellent shape, but with minor signs of wear.
May have pinholes, smaller tears, light fading and slight overall wear.
VERY GOOD (VG)
An average, theatre used poster.
Several pinholes, tears, fading, tape stains, and/or minor paper loss may occur.
GOOD (G)
